Health and Care PartnershipThe Health and Care partnership was set up in 2002 to work with officers and communities across South Lanarkshire to improve health and reduce health inequalities. While a great deal of progress has been made across a number of areas, health in South Lanarkshire still needs to improve both compared with Scotland and with countries in other parts of Europe. The partnership is pursuing a number of key priorities under the lifestyle heading in line with local and national priorities. They are:
These sit within the overarching theme of reducing inequalities. The partnership strategic document is the Joint Health Improvement Plan. Since the development of the current plan (2003/04 – 2006/07 and now extended to 2007/08) health improvement has become a truly cross cutting theme and is a priority for several partnerships across community planning. During 2007 a new plan will be drafted which brings together the health improvement aims and objectives of all the community planning themes into a single strategic framework. Associated partnershipsThere are a number of partnerships which have direct and indirect reporting arrangements with the Health and Care Partnership. Informal links also exist with groups which operate within each of the partner organisations.
